World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

For example, a weapon with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for examplethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-level version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, and include any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded a variety of ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.

You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and give significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using the Glyph can boost all nodes connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item upgrader mod. Once enough points are earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When the player upgrade the equipment they have the original item is replaced by the new item. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback because it can make the item upgrader kit more expensive, even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will have an initial level and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea however it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be very valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as their strength and dexterity.

All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting back to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item upgrader mod is not upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

If an item level upgrade is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item level upgrade's definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each upgrade.

Premium items might have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For instance, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [ArmorBoboko in Central Flarine. Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require an individual amount of ingredients needed to upgrade.
